could have been laid 1,776 years from Adam’s creation. Following is what can be deduced from the
Bible. The data is taken from Genesis chapters 5 and 11.

Year 0: Adam is created.
Year 130: Seth is born, son of Adam.
Year 235: Enosh is born, son of Seth.
Year 325: Kenan is born, son of Enosh.
Year 395: Mahalalel is born, son of Kenan.
Year 460: Jared is born, son of Mahalalel.
Year 622: Enoch is born, son of Jared.
Year 687: Methuselah is born, son of Enoch.
Year 874: Lamech is born, son of Methuselah.
Year 1056: Noah is born, son of Lamech.
Year 1559: Shem is born, son of Noah.
Year 1656: Flood of Noah.
Year 1659: Arphaxad is born, son of Shem.
Year 1694: Shelah is born, son of Arphaxad.
Year 1724: Eber is born, son of Shelah.
Year 1758: Peleg is born, son of Eber.

The Bible tells us that during Peleg’s days the earth was divided. It is quite possible that during
Peleg’s lifetime both the Tower of Babel incident occurred with the division of man’s language, and
the earth was divided forming the continents and placing a physical division among the families of
man.

The year 1776 from the creation of Adam would occur 18 years after the birth of Peleg; (6+6+6)
years. The Bible only gives us the ages of the lineage of Shem, the son of Noah who is the father of
the Semitic (Shemitic) people from whom descended Abraham and the Israelites. Nimrod, the founder
of Babel was of the lineage of Ham, the brother of Shem. We are not told the ages of the descendants

of Ham, or when their sons were born. However, Peleg was the 4 generation after Shem, and Nimrod

was the 2 generation from Ham. This would allow time for Nimrod to mature, begin to establish
himself as a ruler over the people, and to found the city of Babel. By the year 1776 after Adam’s
creation, the people could well have been laying the foundation for the tower of Babel.

We need not suppose that the people’s language was confused during this same year. Years may have
been spent in building up the city and the tower before Yahweh came down to observe and interrupt
the work. Because the Great Seal has the number 1776 on the foundation level of the pyramid (a type
of the Tower of Babel), we would need only assume that the building of the tower began in that year.

Similarly, the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4 , 1776, but it was not until 1789 (13
years later) that America seated her first government with George Washington as her first president.
This period of time can be compared to the building of the tower. The year 1776 represents merely
the initial act, the symbolic laying of the cornerstone.

That the foundation of the Tower of Babel was laid in the year 1776 from Adam’s creation can only
be presented as a hypothesis. The Bible does not tell us the exact year. We can determine from
