From ancient days men have worshiped those images they saw in the heavens; dragons, serpents,
bulls, and various images of animals and men.
When the Israelites formed a calf of gold in the wilderness and said, “This is the god that brought us
up out of Egypt,” they were imitating the vain manner of worship they had observed in that nation.
They had become futile in their speculations, and darkened in their understanding. This behavior has
been observed in all nations, for “the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”
Dragon Parade
In yet another passage we are told that Yahweh uses the heavenly luminaries to convey information
to mankind.
Luke 21:7-27
And they questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, when therefore will these things be? And what will be
the sign when these things are about to take place?” And He said... “And there will be signs in sun
and moon and stars and upon the earth... men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things
which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will
see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”
Once more we are told that the stars and other heavenly bodies are employed as “signs” to announce
