II Samuel 18:33
And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And thus he said
as he walked, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O
Absalom, my son, my son!”
Surely it must be a source of grief to Yahweh to observe this glorious cherub, once full of wisdom
and perfect in beauty, fall into such darkness. Heaven undoubtedly mourns that one who occupied
such a high office, being blameless from the day he was created, should fall into such great iniquity,
to behave as a rebel and a slanderer toward the holy Creator.
